Due to Covid-19, we have a lot of free time on our hands, my father and i decided to start a big project. We wanted to make our front yard look a lot nicer than it did. My dad has taken the lead on this project since it’s his house and stuff. Sadly, he didn’t write up a plan before going in, he said “I’ve got he plan up here” while pointing at his brain. Anyways, we got to work.
First we ordered all the materials
We ordered a bunch of pallets of these rocks that would be used to build the wall
We got a few bags of mortar to fill in any holes in the wall between the rocks
We got a dozen bottles of construction glue, to hold the rocks in place
And a massive pile of dirt, with more to come. this is used to fill in the area within the walls.
In the picture above you can also see and early stage in the development of the wall. we dug a couple inches into the ground to outline where the wall would be built.
And layer by layer, rock by rock, the wall was built
As the wall was built, dirt was placed all around inside to be spread to fill in the area, then a layer of mulch will be spread on top of that
Here is a small section of wall that has been completed, drainage has also been placed along the wall underneath the dirt to allow water to safely flow away from the house when in rains.
While I write this, the project is not complete, however we have been working on it for a couple hours almost every day and we will continue to for a while.
